FAQ

How do I register for CARE?

You must register for CARE online.  Use your family account to register your child/children for the CARE program.  If you have registered for any program since 2018, you will have an account with us.  If you are not sure if you have an account, give us a call during business hours and we will take a look for you.  Once you register and pay the non-refundable registration fee, you are required to fill out the application forms and email them to bmayerle@sgparks.org to complete your CARE registration.  We do require three weeks notice prior to your desired start date.

How soon can my child start?

A child can start at CARE three weeks after a complete application packet is submitted to the park district office AND if a spot is available. If the program is full, the child will be placed on a waiting list. When openings occur during the school year, children on the waiting list have priority placement.

What are the program fees?

There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee.  Monthly fees are based on the actual number of school days in that month. Under this schedule, monthly fees will vary from month to month. The fee schedule for the entire school year can be found in the CARE Parent Handbook.

When are the fees charged?

Fees are automatically drafted from your account on the 15th of each month prior to service. Example: On December 15th, your account will be debited for January CARE.

How do I change my credit card information?

On a desktop computer, log into your family account, go to the “Account,” button on the left of the screen which takes you to your Dashboard.  On the right side of the Dashboard you will see a button that says, “Manage Payment Accounts.”  You can change your card on file there at any time.

Where do I drop my child off?

When facing the front or main entrance of the school, CARE parents should enter through the last door on the right side of the building. The door is locked for safety, so you must ring the black doorbell. This is the front door that is nearest to the gym and multipurpose room. Use door #11 at John Shields School. Use door #12 at John Stewart Stewart School.

My child will not be at CARE today. What do I do?

Please help us keep your child safe by informing the school and CARE staff when your child will not be at school or CARE. We look for your child and expect them to be at our program unless you tell us otherwise. If your child is absent from school and/or CARE, please call:

What are the program dates?

The CARE program is following the Kaneland 302 schedule.  If school is canceled for any reason such as a holiday, institute day, or weather-related closing, the CARE program will not meet. Kaneland School District has four scheduled early dismissal days per school year. On these days, CARE meets an hour earlier to accommodate the shortened school day.

What hours can my child attend the CARE program?

In the morning, children can be brought to the CARE program as early as 6:30 am. When the school bell rings in the morning at 8:40 am, children are dismissed from CARE and they walk to their classrooms. After school, children are dismissed from their classrooms to attend CARE at 3:25 pm. Children can stay at CARE until 6:00 pm.

How do I access my online account?

To access your account from our website, www.sgparks.org, click on the Register Online button. Do I get receipts for my CARE payments for income tax purposes?

If you should need a copy of a receipt, you can access them through your online account. (See FAQ 4 – How do I access my online account?)
