Summer Concert Series Opens June 14

The Sugar Grove Arts and Entertainment Committee will kick off its second annual free summer concert series, “Groovin’ in the Grove,” with four Friday night performances scheduled through September 13.

All concerts begin at 7:00pm and are held outdoors in the Sugar Grove Library’s north parking lot located at 125 Municipal Drive. In the event of a rain cancellation, dates will be rescheduled to the following Sunday afternoon if at all possible.

The first concert June 14, will feature Billy Croft and the Five Alarm, performing music from the latest country hits to rock legends like The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt.

The Bare Hambones consider themselves a roots band playing a range of outlaw country, rockabilly rhythms, bluegrass, blues and rock classics on July 12.

Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band take the stage August 9, combining the sounds of trop rock, reggae, surf and calypso along with familiar songs by Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley and the Zac Brown Band, all performed in their tropical style.

The series wraps up September 13, with a performance by a local artist, The Tyler Krienitz Band, whose music is both traditional and progressive drawing from influences such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, The Velvet Underground and more.

All concerts are suitable for residents of all ages and attendees may picnic, bring a lawn chair and an adult beverage.

The committee is seeking sponsors for just one evening or the whole series.
