Dog Park

A 1-acre, fenced open space for dogs to run, train and socialize off-leash. Dogs using the park must be up-to-date on all vaccinations and be registered for the program. Registration forms, rules and access to the area are available at the district office.

Dog Park Rules

  1. This dog park is to be used only by dogs with a Sugar Grove Park District dog park membership. Dogs must wear their issued dog tags at all times in the park.

  2. To be registered, dogs must have current vaccinations (distemper, hepatitis, Kennel cough and rabies). All dogs must also have a valid dog license from the village or city corresponding to the dog owner’s home address.
  3. Registration is based on an annual membership. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  4. A handler age 18 or older must be present at all times and is solely responsible for the actions of their dog(s).

  5. Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park. Handlers must have leash in their possession at all times.

  6. Children must be at least 6 years of age and accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years or older to enter the dog park.

  7. Aggressive dogs must be removed from the park immediately. Excessive barking is strongly discouraged and may result in temporary or permanent loss of dog park privileges.

  8. Dogs in heat (estrus) are not permitted in the park.

  9. Dogs under 4 months of age are not permitted in the park.

  10. Handlers must immediately pick up after their dog(s), and fill all holes their dog digs.

  11. Cooperation between handlers is expected and required.

  12. No food meant for human consumption, or meals for dogs are allowed. Dog handlers may give dog treats only to their dog(s).

  13. Toys are permitted at your own risk.

  14. Handlers are limited to two dogs per visit.

  15. No alcoholic beverages or glass containers permitted.

  16. Dogs not leashed outside of the dog park are subject to fines and loss of dog park privileges.

  17. Infractions of any park rules will result in permanent revocation of a dog’s membership and the privilege to use this park. Rules will be strictly enforced with zero tolerance.

  18. Pit Bulls and vicious dogs are not permitted.
